A young woman walked into Wiregrass Emergency Pregnancy Service scared about the pregnancy she was facing. Like so many women across the country, she worried about how she would provide for her unborn child in the face of a global pandemic that her cut two-income household in half. Her family could barely put food on the table and had no way idea how they would provide for a new addition. She needed a cars seat for her child, but also needed clothing and diapers for the toddler who clung to her leg as she timidly asked for help.
The funding from donors like you allowed the WEPS staff to provide the young mother with a coat for her child and diapers. They were able to enroll the woman in a parenting curriculum that would allow the family to receive a brand new car seat well before the baby was born.
But just as one young mother left, another walked through the door with more needs. Fear of how to provide for their children is a reality many women and men in our community face on a daily basis, a fear that is only exacerbated in the face of a global pandemic.
